This is the full winter loop for travellers who want more than a day trip from Bishkek. We handle all transfers, hotels, ski passes, and guiding as you cross snow-covered passes to Issyk-Kul, explore the historic Burana Tower, spend two days on the slopes at Karakol — Kyrgyzstan's premier ski resort — then visit the red rocks of Jeti-Oguz and soak in natural hot springs before returning to the capital. About Karakol, Jeti-Oguz & the region
Karakol is Kyrgyzstan's adventure capital on the eastern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake — about 6–7 hours from Bishkek by road in winter. Its ski resort is the country's main destination for a multi-day ski holiday: modern lifts, varied slopes for different levels, and far fewer crowds than European resorts. After skiing, Karakol itself rewards exploration — Dungan mosque, Orthodox church, and one of the best food scenes in the country (try ashlan-fu and lagman).
Burana Tower, on the road from Bishkek, is an 11th-century minaret from the Karakhanid era — one of Central Asia's most important Silk Road monuments. The open-air museum of balbals (stone warriors) nearby makes it a perfect cultural stop before the mountain drive.
Jeti-Oguz ("Seven Bulls") is a dramatic valley of red sandstone cliffs just south of Karakol — one of Kyrgyzstan's most photographed landscapes. In winter the contrast of red rocks against snow is spectacular. Nearby, the Altyn Arashan valley is famous for natural hot springs — the ideal way to recover after two days on the slopes.

Itinerary
Day 1
Bishkek → Burana → Karakol
08:00 — Pickup from your Bishkek hotel (or airport on arrival day). 08:00–10:00 — Drive toward Issyk-Kul. 10:00–11:30 — Stop at Burana Tower: climb the minaret, walk among ancient balbal statues, learn about Silk Road history. 11:30–16:00 — Continue through snow-covered mountain passes with Issyk-Kul viewpoints. 16:00–17:00 — Arrive in Karakol, hotel check-in. Evening at leisure — explore the city or try local Dungan cuisine (dinner on your own).
Day 2
Karakol Ski Day
08:30 — Transfer to Karakol ski resort (20 min). 09:00 — Equipment fitting and ski pass collection. 09:30–12:30 — Morning on the slopes — wide runs, forested trails, and mountain views. 12:30–13:30 — Lunch at the resort base. 13:30–16:30 — Afternoon skiing at your own pace. 16:30 — Return to Karakol. Evening free to rest or explore the local market.
Day 3
Karakol Ski & City
08:30 — Second ski day at Karakol resort — build on what you learned yesterday or try more challenging runs. 12:30 — Lunch at the base. 15:00 — Return to Karakol town. 15:30–17:30 — Optional city walk: Dungan Mosque (built without nails), Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, or Karakol's Sunday animal market (if timing aligns). Dinner at a local restaurant — ashlan-fu, lagman, or oromo recommended.
Day 4
Jeti-Oguz & Hot Springs
09:00 — Drive to Jeti-Oguz valley (30 min). 09:30–11:30 — Walk and photograph the red rock formations — Seven Bulls, Broken Heart, and snow-covered valley views. 11:30–12:30 — Lunch in the valley or nearby village. 13:00 — Continue toward Altyn Arashan hot springs (access may involve a short walk or 4×4 depending on conditions). 14:00–16:00 — Soak in natural thermal pools surrounded by snowy mountains. 16:00 — Return to Karakol for final overnight.
Day 5
Karakol → Bishkek
08:00 — Depart Karakol after breakfast. 08:00–14:00 — Scenic winter drive back to Bishkek along Issyk-Kul's northern shore with photo stops at frozen lake viewpoints. 14:00–15:00 — Arrive in Bishkek, hotel drop-off or airport transfer for onward flights.
