A traditional Kyrgyz yurt takes weeks to construct. The wooden frame (kerege), felt covers, and decorative shyrdaks each require specialized craft.
Today, yurt camps offer travelers an authentic overnight experience. You'll sleep on thick mattresses (dosturkan) around a central stove.
When visiting a yurt, enter with your right foot, accept offered tea and bread, and never step on the threshold.
